Located on the ancient seaside village site, this award-winning Aboriginal cultural tourism oceanfront complex attracts visitors to join in celebrating the unique culture, art and history of the Haida.

The Haida Heritage Centre at Kaay Llnagaay is an award-winning Aboriginal cultural tourism attraction located on Haida Gwaii on British Columbia’s Northwest coast. The centre houses the Haida Gwaii Museum, additional temporary exhibition space, two classrooms, the Performance House, Canoe House, Bill Reid Teaching Centre, the Carving House, the Haida Gwaii Musuem Gift Shop and the Kaay Kitchen Café.

Restaurant

At Kaay Kitchen everything is homemade and fresh everyday. Just off the left side of the Welcome House is the Gaa Taa Naay - Eating House where you will find the Kaay Kitchen Café. Bright and welcoming with a full view of Kay Gawgwa, Kaay Kitchen serves hot lunches, coffee and snacks.

Performance House

This amphitheatre can seat up to 250 people. The room is designed like a traditional Haida style dugout longhouse. Large sliding doors at each side of the house provide privacy within the space. The entire area is covered in cedar planks and posts providing an awe-inspiring setting ideal for presentations, ceremonies, weddings, performances, announcements and other special events. The area has already hosted weddings, an opera, a Haida theatre play, welcoming ceremonies, and slide show/video presentations.

Museum & Gift Shop

The Haida Gwaii Museum is located at Skidegate, BC on Haida Gwaii (formerly the Queen Charlotte Islands), within the Haida Heritage Centre at Kaay Llnagaay, a world-wide renowned cultural centre.

Artist Studio

The Carving House is a large, open-walled building designed to house monumental poles, canoes and any other work that would be too large to fit in the enclosed carving shed for our enterprising and talented local artists to work on.
