Explore the cultural wonders of the Shíshálh First Nation territories with our experienced guides on the First Nation Interpretive Paddle Tour or the Talking Trees experience.

Experienced guides help visitors discover and experience traditional Salish ways of life on the Sunshine Coast and various Lower Mainland locations by appointment. Hear traditional stories connected to local pictographs, native plants and wildlife.

Kayaking and hiking tours are offered May, June, July, August, early September. It is by reservation only and is available off-season for the avid adventurer. Co-create a unique cultural experience with us and your group. Talaysay customized events include Cultural Activities and heritage songs, stories and drumming with First Nation guides.


Kayaking

First Nations Interpretive Paddle: Explore the cultural wonders of the Shi`sha`lh First Nation territories by kayak. The Shishalh people have lived in this area for thousands of years. Your local Shishalh guides will take you on a kayaking journey through time. Learn about our ancestors’ way of life and take in the stunning views of the Sunshine Coast shoreline. Each tour begins with an introduction to kayak safety procedures to keep you safe on your journey. Paddling through the calm waters you will notice that each point or inlet offers its own unique story and legend. This region is rich in marine life and there is always a chance of seeing seals, otters, sea stars, sea cucumbers, eelgrass and much more. This tour is offered as a short tour (3.5hrs), full tour (5-6hrs) or extended tour (2nights/3days). The extended tour visits historical campsites and marine parks and exploration of Kunechin Point and Tzoonie Narrows.

Hiking and Walks

Talking Trees Experience: Listen to the legends each tree has to tell throughout Porpoise Bay Provincial Park. A local First Nations guide will take you on a walking journey through time to learn about ecology of the forest and take part in tales and traditions passed down from our ancestors who lived in the same village centuries ago. Along the way, your guide will point out local plants that were harvested for traditional medicine and food use.

Snowshowing

Come explore a true winter wonderland! Dakota Ridge and Tetrehedron mountain range offers world class cross country ski trails, (classic and skate) and snowshoe trails through old growth forests and fantastic panoramic views of Georgia Strait, Vancouver Island, Vancouver, Howe Sound and the North Shore mountains.
